The Opportunity for the Next 90 Days

Practical Areas of Focus

Throughout the 90 days, our work will consistently return to six pillars:

1. Self-Trust

Building the ability to trust your own decisions, instincts, preparation, and capacity to handle whatever happens.

2. Emotional Independence

Reducing the emotional power of other people's opinions, progress, success, and reactions.

3. Outcome Detachment

Learning to want outcomes without requiring them for emotional safety or self-worth.

4. Post-Competition Resilience

Creating a new response to disappointment, mistakes, losses, and unmet goals — particularly in the hours and days after competition.

5. Uncertainty

Continuing to practice being genuinely okay without knowing what happens next.

6. Climbing Identity

Discovering how ambition, competition, performance, and achievement fit into the new you without allowing them to define you.

Success Measures

Success over these 90 days will not be measured primarily through goal-based results. Instead, we will look for evidence that you are becoming increasingly difficult to emotionally knock off course.

By the end of the 90 days, we want to see:

  • Increased self-trust

  • Less comparison

  • Less emotional investment in other people's opinions

  • Faster recovery after disappointing performances

  • Less post-competition spiraling

  • Greater trust in your training

  • Greater comfort with uncertainty

  • Less need to know what happens next

  • Ability to experience failure without making it personal

  • Ability to experience success without needing it for validation

  • Greater clarity around what you genuinely want (This one really excites me!)

  • Continued access to your free/light/present performance state

  • Ability to pursue goals without becoming controlled by them

  • No longer need life to go a certain way in order to feel okay about yourself

The 90-Day Commitment

For the next 90 days, your commitment is not to become more disciplined, work harder, or force yourself to believe in yourself. It is to practice trusting yourself. To trust yourself when you are uncertain, when someone else is ahead, when someone doesn't approve, after a bad competition, when you don't know what your next goal is, when the future looks completely different than expected.

The Ultimate 90-Day Goal

Building and becoming the Kaitlyn who knows exactly what she wants when she’s completely free to choose.

1. Deepening self-trust

You've already begun trusting yourself in ways that the Kaitlyn from Day 1 couldn't. Now we would work on making that trust more stable, particularly when you're uncertain, disappointed, afraid or being challenged.

We would explore:

  • Trusting your decisions without needing external validation

  • Trusting yourself when you don't know what happens next

  • Trusting yourself to handle outcomes you don't want

  • Distinguishing fear from genuine intuition

  • Building confidence that doesn't depend on achievement

  • Learning to return to yourself when doubt appears

2. Freedom from other people's opinions

You identified this as one of the biggest remaining areas of growth. The goal isn't to force yourself to stop caring what anyone thinks. Instead, we'll work toward something more sustainable.

We'll explore:

  • Fear of judgment

  • Comparison

  • The need for approval

  • Feeling behind

  • Other people outperforming you

  • The urge to prove yourself

  • Anger and resentment

  • Allowing people to misunderstand you

  • Staying secure in your own decisions

3. Redefining your relationship with climbing

One of the most unexpected discoveries of these 90 days was that you can have no climbing goals and still feel okay. That is incredibly valuable information. The next phase would not be about forcing yourself to choose a goal.

Instead, we'd explore:

  • What does climbing mean to you now?

  • What do you actually want from it?

  • What does ambition look like without pressure?

  • Can you want something deeply without needing it?

  • Can you pursue World Cups without World Cups determining your worth?

  • Can you compete because you love competing rather than because you need to prove something?

  • What does healthy ambition look like for the new Kaitlyn?

You don't have to decide the future of your climbing immediately. The goal is to create enough freedom that whatever you choose is genuinely your choice.

4. Learning to handle disappointment

You've already shown that you can stay much more present during competition. The next layer is what happens after the competition. You've described the old version of you returning after difficult performances and pulling you underwater. Together, we'd work on changing the meaning you attach to those moments.

We'll work on:

  • Post-competition emotional regulation

  • Separating performance from identity

  • Processing disappointment without self-punishment

  • Learning from mistakes without turning them into self-judgment

  • Preventing one performance from becoming a prediction about your future

  • Developing a repeatable post-competition process

5. Becoming comfortable with uncertainty

You've already transformed your relationship with uncertainty. The next level is learning to remain there.

You don't always need to know:

  • What's going to happen

  • Whether you'll succeed

  • Whether you'll improve

  • Whether you'll make the right decision

  • What other people will think

  • Where your climbing is going

  • What your future looks like

The work becomes: “I don't know yet and I'm okay.”, because certainty doesn't have to be what makes you feel safe anymore. Self-trust can.

6. Embodying the free athlete

Your original ideal performance state was free, light, thoughtless and present. You've already experienced this state. Now the focus would be making it increasingly accessible when conditions aren't perfect.

We'll identify and strengthen what helps you access it:

  • Sleep

  • Supportive people

  • Positive environments

  • Music

  • Exercise

  • Flow

  • Presence

  • Letting go of expectations

And we'll develop strategies for returning to yourself when you're pulled away by:

  • Fatigue

  • Brain fog

  • Negativity

  • Anger

  • Resentment

  • Comparison

  • Fear

  • Pressure

The goal isn't to be perfectly regulated all the time. It's to know how to come back to yourself.

7. Integrating the new Kaitlyn

We will discover who you are when you don’t need to prove anything. Not just as an athlete. As a person. The goal isn't to create another version of yourself that you have to become. It's to become increasingly comfortable being the person you've already discovered.

We'll continue exploring:

  • Who you are without achievement

  • What you value

  • What freedom means to you

  • What success means now

  • What ambition means now

  • What “enough” means

  • What you want simply because it brings you joy

  • What kind of life you actually want to create

Proposed Start Date

You decide when you are ready to continue. Ideally, we don’t want to lose too much momentum, that’s why I came up with an Option 2.
